June 16, 2020 | | Webinar

Duane Morris is hosting the webinar, "Preparing for the USMCA: Key Issues for the Automotive Industry," on June 16, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

About the Program

On April 24, 2020, the U.S. Trade Representative notified Congress that the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA) will take effect on July 1, 2020. The USMCA has significant differences from its predecessor, the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), along with new requirements that will have profound implications for many companies, especially those in the automotive industry. In this webinar, members of the Duane Morris Transportation, Automotive and Logistics Industry Team will provide an overview of the USMCA, discuss key changes from NAFTA, and offer practical strategies to help companies prepare for doing business under the USMCA.

Topics include:

  • Background on NAFTA and Why President Trump Wanted to Renegotiate It
  • Major Differences Between the USMCA and NAFTA
  • The USMCA’s New Labor Provisions and Their Effect on Automotive Companies
  • The USMCA’s New Rules of Origin Requirements and Their Implications for the Auto Industry
