LOS ANGELES, November 24, 2010—Duane Morris associate Cyndie M. Chang, a member of the firm's Trial Practice Group in its Los Angeles office, was honored by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) with its 2010 "Best Lawyers Under 40" award. Chang was one of 20 lawyers recognized at NAPABA's 22nd Annual Convention, held on November 18-21 in Los Angeles.
The "Best Lawyers Under 40" awards are given to talented individuals in the Asian Pacific American legal community who are under 40 and have achieved prominence in their respective fields, while demonstrating a strong commitment to the community. Chang is one of the youngest recipients of the honor since the awards program was launched in 2002.
In addition, Chang was elected to NAPABA's board of governors for the 2010–2011 bar year. She will serve as a regional governor, representing the Central California Region, which encompasses 10 bar associations in the Los Angeles area.
Chang practices in the area of commercial and insurance coverage litigation. She has litigated matters involving antitrust and unfair competition, trademark, trade secrets, entertainment, fashion and real estate. She is the Pro Bono Coordinator for Duane Morris' Los Angeles office. Chang serves as vice president on the board of governors of the Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association and is on the board of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Los Angeles. She has also been appointed vice chair of the American Bar Association Business Litigation Committee within the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section. Chang has continued involvement with the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles and the Southern California Business Litigation American Inn of Court. In addition, she serves on the board of directors of the Asian Pacific Community Fund, which generates funding for approximately 30 nonprofit organizations in Southern California.
Chang earned her J.D. from Loyola Law School Los Angeles in 2003, and graduated with a B.A., with honors, from The Johns Hopkins University in 2000. She served as judicial extern to the Hon. Stephen Reinhardt of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
