Duane Morris Philadelphia Office Adds Health Law Partner Delphine O'Rourke
October 30, 2018
PHILADELPHIA, October 30, 2018 - Delphine O'Rourke has joined Duane Morris LLP’s Philadelphia office as a partner in the firm’s Health Law Practice Group. She was most recently vice president of legal services and associate general counsel for Ascension, the largest Catholic health system in the world and the largest nonprofit health system in the United States.
“We’re thrilled to bring Delphine onboard,” said Matthew A. Taylor, CEO and Chairman of Duane Morris. “She is a great enhancement to our health law practice at a time of great change for the healthcare industry.”
While at Ascension, O’Rourke was a member of Ascension’s national legal leadership team which sought to transform the delivery of legal services across Ascension’s healthcare and solutions divisions, create and implement a new generation legal model for over 70 attorneys, decrease enterprise risk and redesign the stewardship of resources for the $28 billion healthcare system. O’Rourke was also a member of the executive teams of all of Ascension’s health systems and hospitals in the Northeast and provided strategic and legal counsel to the varied entities. She served as counsel to Ascension subsidiary organizations, their boards of directors and to executive management teams on a wide range of issues including governance, care integration models, and significant projects and transactions. O’Rourke also chaired the legal function’s Mission Committee to integrate Ascension’s mission, vision and values in the delivery of legal services.
Prior to her position as vice president of legal services and associate general counsel at Ascension, O’Rourke served as founding and managing partner of the Philadelphia office of Hall, Render, Killian, Heath & Lyman. She concentrated her practice in the areas of governance, health system and hospital counsel, and provider relations. While there, O’Rourke also functioned as regional counsel for Ascension’s Northeast market with oversight for health systems in New York, Connecticut, Maryland and Washington, D.C. She was responsible for the delivery, coordination and management of legal services, client relationships and financial resources.
“Delphine is a great addition to our team,” said David E. Loder, chair of the Duane Morris Health Law Practice Group. “Her extensive experience in-house at the largest nonprofit health system in the U.S. and the largest Catholic health system in the world will offer our clients a unique perspective and a tremendous benefit.”
O’Rourke is a graduate of Columbia Law School (J.D., 2001) and Georgetown University (B.S., cum laude, 1996).
