CHICAGO, September 10, 2012—Duane Morris partner Charles Lewis has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Circle Urban Ministries, a Christian ministry devoted to transforming Chicago's West Side by empowering, inspiring and developing the next generation of leaders in the Austin community. The Austin community has some of the highest unemployment, poverty and violent crime rates in the city of Chicago.
Circle Urban Ministries has been serving the Austin neighborhood for more than 35 years, conducting several programs to better the community and serve its youth. The organization's programs include Circle4Success, an after-school program; LIFT, a performing arts program; 1-to-1 Mentoring program; and a college readiness program. Circle Urban Ministries also houses the Catalyst Charter School and Circle Rock Church on its campus.
Lewis concentrates his practice in the area of construction law and litigation, representing owners, general contractors, construction managers and subcontractors in domestic and international construction contract drafting, negotiation and disputes. Lewis is a mediator and arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and has also been certified as a mediator by the International Mediation Institute. He is a graduate of the University of San Francisco School of Law and of the University of Michigan.
