ATLANTA, March 29, 2017—Two Duane Morris LLP Atlanta partners have been named “Georgia Lawyers of the Year” by Best Lawyers. Matthew C. Gaudet was recognized in the Litigation – Patent category and Robin L. McGrath was recognized in the Litigation – Intellectual Property category. “Lawyer of the Year” designations are awarded to lawyers with the highest overall peer-feedback for a specific practice area and geographic region. The recognition is given to only one attorney for each specialty and location.
Gaudet is a trial lawyer who practices in the area of intellectual property litigation with a focus on patent litigation, as well as related complex commercial litigation and technology litigation. He has successfully tried numerous cases, defeated dozens of patents prior to trial, and appeared before panels of the U.S. Court of Appeals, the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation and federal district courts across the country. Gaudet serves as co-chair of Duane Morris’ Patent Litigation division. In 2011, he was named one of Law360’s Five IP Lawyers Under 40 to Watch, and was described as “a deadly cross-examiner.” From 2009 to 2016, Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business has included Gaudet in its listing of leading IP lawyers in Georgia.
Gaudet is a 1997 magna cum laude graduate of Duke University School of Law and a 1993 magna cum laude graduate of Louisiana State University.
McGrath concentrates her practice on litigating all aspects of patent, trademark and copyright disputes, as well as IP counseling. She has extensive courtroom experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in the technology and financial technology industries, focusing on payment systems, business methods, software, telephone, internet and networking systems. McGrath has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America for intellectual property every year since 2006. Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business has ranked her as one of the top intellectual property attorneys in Georgia since 2004. Additionally, she has been included in Super Lawyers, which has repeatedly named her as one of the “Top 50 Women Lawyers in Georgia.”
McGrath is a 1995 graduate of the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where she was managing editor of the Law Review, and a 1989 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.
