Carolina Goncalves practices in the areas of commercial and international dispute resolution. She has represented U.S. and international clients in a variety of industries, including banking and real estate, in complex commercial, white-collar, and regulatory matters. She is a native Spanish speaker and proficient in Portuguese. Carolina regularly counsels clients across the globe and collaborates with local counsel to effectively meet her clients’ needs.
Carolina is part of the firm’s Fintech practice and a leader in the firm’s Digital Assets and Blockchain Group. She is also on the advisory board for the Southeastern Women in Financial Services (SWIFS) organization.
Carolina obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2013. She is a 2016 graduate, with honors, of Emory University School of Law, where she was executive managing editor of the Emory International Law Review.

- Seized passenger aircraft and garnished debtor’s bank account at prejudgment stage to secure $1.8 million debt.
- Successfully represented publicly traded international gaming company in resuming trade following Nasdaq trade suspension in connection with Russia-Ukraine sanctions.
- Successfully represented publicly traded financial services company in resuming trade following Nasdaq delisting in connection with Russia-Ukraine sanctions.
Developed and implemented FCPA compliance program for Asia-based LNG company with U.S. operations. Conducted corporate compliance audits, compliance training sessions, and counseled company on compliance matters through multiple deal negotiations and internal investigations.
- Successfully petitioned for removal of former Latin American government official from Interpol Red Notice list.
- Counseled U.S.-based client that was the subject of federal money laundering investigation in Brazil.
- Represented subject of DOJ investigation of compounding pharmacy operation.
- Represented multiple judicial administrators/liquidators (based in Latin America, Europe, Asia, Canada, and the Caribbean) in gathering of evidence in the U.S. for use in foreign insolvency/liquidation proceedings involving claims of fraud and asset concealment.
- Successfully obtained significant summary decision for community association client in fast-track commercial arbitration.
