Deanna J. Lucci practices in the area of litigation, representing institutions of higher education as well as businesses large and small in trade secret and non-compete litigation, fraud claims, class actions, arbitration, consumer claims, employment law claims, banking, regulatory and administrative law matters. Deanna is often called upon to file temporary restraining orders, preliminary injunctions and writs in “bet the company” litigation when clients are faced with adverse actions by government agencies.
As a member of the Education Industry Group, Deanna counsels the firm’s higher education clients on regulatory and accreditation matters. She is also involved in the Duane Morris Cannabis Industry Group and represents cannabis and cannabis-related companies in litigation and regulatory matters.
Deanna is a former judicial law clerk to Magistrate Judge Bernard G. Skomal in the United States District Court, Southern District of California. She previously served as Assistant Deputy Counsel to the Hon. Deborah A. Kaplan, Administrative Judge of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, New York County, Civil Branch, and has served as a law clerk in five courts throughout New York City. Deanna previously gained litigation experience at a family law firm in New York.
Deanna regularly provides pro bono legal representation to victims of domestic violence through the San Diego Volunteer Lawyers Program, has successfully represented an asylum applicant from Afghanistan, and has volunteered with the California Innocence Project.
Deanna is a 2008 graduate of Hofstra University School of Law, where she was editor-in-chief of The Conscience, the law student newspaper, and a cum laude graduate of California State University, Fullerton. Prior to attending law school, Deanna worked as a copy editor for the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin in Ontario, California.
Deanna is a former member of the firm’s Associates Committee and also serves as an associate liaison to the firm’s Cannabis Industry Group.

Represented commercial real estate developer in products liability litigation concerning defective tiles installed in multi-unit apartment building in New York City.

Represented credit card processing company in collections matter involving chargeback disputes.
Defended Fortune 200 national bank in mortgage litigation in California Superior Court and Court of Appeal.

Represented a multi-unit fast-food franchisee in a dispute with his business partners.
Represented licensee of grocery store chain in federal court litigation.
Defended a non-profit organization in lease dispute litigation, resulting in plaintiffs’ voluntary dismissal with prejudice after threatened motion to dismiss.
Represented skin-care corporation in federal court ERISA litigation involving injunctive relief.

Obtained an order granting a motion for reconsideration in a wage-and-hour class action case on behalf of the employer, significantly limiting the number of potential class members.
