About the Program

Duane Morris Partner and Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer Joseph K. West will be joined by Juliette W. Pryor, Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary of Lowe's Companies, Inc. for a conversation on Black excellence in the corporate class, what it looks like at the C-suite executive level, and why it’s important to share her story.

Introductory Remarks 

Matthew A. Taylor is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the firm and also serves on the firm's Executive Committee. He practices in the area of commercial litigation, handling matters in state and federal courts across the United States. Matt also represents corporate boards and individual corporate officers and directors in internal and government investigations and related proceedings. Admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New York, Matt is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and is a member of the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia bar associations and the International Association of Defense Counsel. He is listed in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business in general commercial litigation.

Joseph K. West is a partner in the firm's Trial and practices in the area of complex litigation. He is also a member of the firm’s Partners Board and serves as the firm’s Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer and as chair of the firm’s DEI Consulting Practice. Prior to joining Duane Morris, Joe spent almost five years focused on diversity, equity and inclusion within the legal profession as President and CEO of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA). Prior to MCCA, Joe was Associate General Counsel – Head of Global Outside Counsel Management at Walmart Stores Inc., where he was responsible for managing the company’s relationships with all of its outside counsel worldwide, including oversight of over 600 law firms and a budget of over $300 million. In 2019, Joe was the recipient of the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award: Diversity & Equality from Chambers and Partners. In May 2024, Joe was unanimously inducted into the Tulane Law School Hall of Fame.

Juliette W. Pryor is an experienced public company corporate director and c-suite executive with over 30 years of business experience. Juliette serves as Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, and Corporate Secretary of Lowe’s Companies, Inc. (NYSE: LOW). Lowe’s is a Fortune 50 home improvement company that operates over 1700 stores and employs approximately 300,000 associates. Juliette also serves as a director of Genuine Parts Company (NYSE: GPC) a Fortune 200 global service organization specializing in the distribution of automotive and industrial parts. GPC operates in 17 countries and is supported by over 60,000 associates.

Prior to joining Lowe’s Juliette served as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for The Albertsons Companies. She has also served in similar leadership roles for Cox Enterprises, US Foods and e.spire Communications. Juliette spent time in private practice with the law firm Skadden Arps, and as legal advisor to the vice chairman of the U.S. International Trade Commission. She began her career as an in-house attorney with IBM Corporation.

Juliette earned her bachelor’s degree from Fisk University and her Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University, where she also received a master’s degree from the school of foreign service. She is chair of the board of trustees of Fisk University and a member of the Executive Leadership Council.
