SAN FRANCISCO, February 8, 2023―Shireen Y. Wetmore has joined Duane Morris LLP as a partner in the firm’s Employment, Labor, Benefits and Immigration Practice Group in its San Francisco office. Prior to joining Duane Morris, Wetmore was a partner at Seyfarth Shaw LLP.
“By design, we have focused on building out our stellar employment practice, creating a Workplace Class Action Group to support growing client needs given the growing trend in lawsuits filed and spending in defense. And we continue to emphasize our marquee talent and leadership capabilities in this market,” said Duane Morris Chairman and CEO Matthew A. Taylor. “Shireen’s skill set matches perfectly with what we are doing and we are very excited to offer our clients a deeper level of strategic knowledge.”
In September 2022, Duane Morris added class action attorney Gerald L. Maatman Jr. and eight attorneys to the Duane Morris Chicago office. In October 2022, the firm added 18 lawyers with high-end, nationally recognized employment litigation capabilities, including the addition of 13 attorneys to the firm’s Silicon Valley office.
“Shireen is a terrific addition to our practice group. Her experience litigating and counseling clients on matters impacting their workforce, including defending against class and representative actions and agency charges, as well as advising on matters from local ordinances to complex wage and hour questions, will enhance our ability to counsel clients,” said Eve I. Klein, chair of Duane Morris’ Employment, Labor, Benefits and Immigration Practice Group.
“We are thrilled to add Shireen to the high-caliber team of employment attorneys who have joined Diane Morris in the Bay Area over the last six months,” said Stephen H. Sutro, managing partner of the firm’s Silicon Valley and San Francisco offices. “We have tremendous bench strength in California and are well-positioned to serve our technology and corporate clients navigating the legal, regulatory and business issues impacting operational and workforce management decisions.”
Wetmore’s practice focuses on employment litigation, including class actions and single plaintiff cases and arbitrations. She also handles administrative charges for diverse industries and employment counseling. Having started her career in an in-house role, Wetmore brings a unique understanding of the many business considerations facing her clients. She finds solutions that work for her clients and helps them comply with the complex layers of legal requirements impacting workforce policies in the wage-and-hour space. Wetmore has a detailed knowledge of her clients’ business and a deep, real-world understanding of the broader implications of the legal guidance their outside counsel provides. Her diverse work experience, prior to law school, informs her practice and helps her relate to her equally diverse clients and their workforces. She also has extensive experience in litigating and finding practical resolutions to large class actions.
“I’m excited to be part of Duane Morris in the Bay Area and welcome the opportunity to grow my practice via the firm’s full service platform,” said Wetmore.
Wetmore is a graduate of the George Washington University School of Law (J.D., with honors) and the University of Arkansas (B.A., B.S., magna cum laude).
