Charles J. O'Donnell is the Chief Operating Officer of Duane Morris LLP. He is responsible for the management and direction of all administrative and business areas of the firm. He graduated from Drexel University with a B.S. in Accounting. Charles is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. O'Donnell has completed the "Leading Professional Service Firms" program at the Harvard Business School. He has been active in the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) and served in various capacities of the Philadelphia Chapter of ALA, including president in 1992/1993. He is a member of the Large Firm Principal Administrators (LFA) Steering Committee. Charles was honored in 2019 by the charitable organization Eluna with inaugural David P. Montgomery Corporate Leadership Award.
Mr. O'Donnell has presented and participated in panels on law-firm related topics at various meetings of the Attorneys' Liability Assurance Society, Inc. (ALAS); Association of Legal Administrators (ALA); Ark Group USA and Sandpiper Partners. At the 2011 ALA Annual Conference and Exposition, he served on a panel entitled "Creating and Maintaining an Extraordinary Managing Partner/Administrator Team." Mr. O'Donnell is quoted in the book The Extraordinary Managing Partner. Since 2010, he has been a guest lecturer each semester in the University of Michigan Law School class "Law Firm Careers in an Evolving Profession" in the class segment focusing on the Duane Morris case studies (2006, 2015) published by the Harvard Business School ("HBS"). In addition, he has been a guest speaker at Harvard Business School (2014), Harvard Law School (2015 to 2017) and New York University Stern School of Business (2013, 2015).
